The Reckless Club follows, for 24 hours, five kids who've each been summoned to volunteer at a nursing home by school authorities for pranks committed separately in their last week of middle school. First off, I think the premise of a book spanning 24 hours is genius, especially for this story/5(55).

The Reckless Club is The Breakfast Club for a new generation. I must admit, this book made me feel old as I saw The Breakfast Club in the movie theater. I think it would probably resonate better with the middle graders that it is aimed toward which is why I'm rounding up to 4 stars/5(14).

Book Review: The Reckless Club. Septem The book’s title is a nod to The Breakfast Club, of course, a movie I loved when I was younger. I expect that most middle grade readers (Larrabee included) haven’t seen it, but that won’t impact their enjoyment of the book.

And, similar to the film, the novel ends with a jointly written essay (“But after today, we just see each other. And we’re going to change things, make them better, starting now”) signed “The Reckless Club.” The third-person narration mostly alternates among Jason, Lilith, and Wes, with Ally’s and Rex’s perspectives much later.

They're wrong. As punishment, they each have to volunteer one beautiful summer day-the last one before school-at. Introduction. A provocative love story between a tough Kansas woman on a crooked path to redemption and the unlikeliest of champions, from the New York Times bestselling author of All the Ugly and Wonderful Things.

Zee is nobody's fairy tale princess. Almost six-foot, with a redhead's temper and a shattered hip, she has a long list of worries: never-ending bills, her beautiful, gullible sister, her five 5/5(1).

The Reckless Club (Book): Vrabel, Beth: After getting in trouble in the eighth grade, five students are assigned by a judge to spend the last day of summer helping out in an assisted living home and manage to forge an unexpected bond with the residents and with each other.

The Reckless Oath We Made is an incredibly raw, moving novel about life in small-town Kansas where making ends meet is hard, responsibility weighs heavy, and loyalty, innocence, and love comes in many different forms. The writing style is unique, with the narration being a 4/5.
